ताँ उशतो वि बोधय यदग्ने यासि दूत्यम् ।
देवैरा सत्सि बर्हिषि ॥ ४ ॥

Taam Ushato Vi Bodhaya Yadagne Yaasi Dootyam
Devaira Satsi Barhishi ॥ 4 ॥

Meaning

तान् (Taan): Them; those people; us. This word refers to devotees who seek God and desire spiritual elevation. Here, “Taan” does not refer only to individual persons; it refers to all those who desire divine progress. A human being does not progress alone on the spiritual path; this word expresses a prayer on behalf of all living beings who seek divine grace.

उशतः (Ushatah): Those who desire; those who long; those who seek You. ‘Usha’ conveys the idea of desire, longing, or deep aspiration. Here, it refers to devotees who sincerely seek God and desire His grace and light. Divine grace does not manifest without a receptive heart; the heart that sincerely desires it becomes worthy of receiving it.

वि (Vi): Especially; extensively; clearly. This word refers not to ordinary knowledge, but to deep and clear awareness. It is not enough for a human being to acquire merely external knowledge; he needs inner vision to understand the truth clearly. This special illumination given by God becomes the foundation of spiritual progress.

बोधय (Bodhaya): Give awareness; instruct; grant wisdom. This word is a direct prayer addressed to God. It contains the prayer, “Illuminate our hearts and grant us awareness.” Ignorance and confusion keep a human being in suffering, whereas divine knowledge illuminates his thoughts and his life.

यत् (Yat): When; through which; because. This word establishes a connection with the following idea. It teaches that when God performs His divine messenger duty, the awakening of human awareness is also connected with it.

अग्ने (Agne): O Agni; O God who is the embodiment of light; O Supreme Being as Agrani. Here, ‘Agne’ refers to the Supreme Being who leads the human being towards progress and light. He is not merely the source of external light; He is also the source of the inner light of knowledge.

यासि (Yaasi): You go; You reach; You undertake. This word expresses the active nature of God. God is not merely one who remains distant; He acts within the lives of living beings and leads them on the path of elevation. He moves towards the human being and also leads the human being towards Himself.

दूत्यम् (Dootyam): The duty of a messenger; the act of carrying a message. Here, ‘Dootyam’ has a profound meaning. Ordinary messengers carry the messages of others, but God gives His own divine message to the human being. The order found in natural principles such as the Sun, and the teachings of the Vedas, reach human beings as divine messages from God. Through them, human beings learn how to live in harmony with nature and Dharma.

देवैः (Devaih): With the gods; with divine qualities. Here, ‘Devaih’ does not refer merely to external deities; it refers to the divine attitudes that arise within a human being. Noble qualities such as compassion, truth, knowledge, devotion, and self-control are referred to here as ‘Devas’.

आ (Aa): Near; completely; being with. This word indicates the closeness of God. God is not one who remains far away; He is close within the human heart and can be approached through His grace.

सत्सि (Satsi): You sit; You dwell; You remain established. This word describes the state in which God becomes established within the human heart. When the heart becomes illuminated by accepting the divine message, the presence of God becomes firmly established there. This is not a temporary experience; it is a spiritual state in which God dwells within the inner life.

बर्हिषि (Barhishi): Barhis; upon the sacred seat; in the heart free from tendencies. ‘Barhis’ refers to the sacred seat spread out in a Yajna. Here, it indicates the purified human heart from which tendencies have been removed. Such a pure heart becomes a worthy seat for God and the divine qualities to dwell.

Explanation

This mantra deeply explains how essential the grace and divine guidance of God are for the spiritual progress of a human being. The luminous Agrani God illuminates the hearts of devotees who sincerely seek Him and long for Him with special knowledge and awareness. He is not merely a distant power; He is the compassionate messenger who conveys His divine message to human beings through Vedic knowledge, the order of nature, and inner inspiration. A human being who accepts this divine message and regulates his life accordingly gains the higher wisdom required to live in harmony with Dharma and nature.

Furthermore, the mantra gives great importance to the purity of the human heart. A heart purified from tendencies, desires, and ignorance becomes like the Barhis spread upon the Yajna altar, a sacred ground suitable for the growth of divine qualities. In such a heart, divine attitudes such as compassion, truth, devotion, knowledge, and self-control begin to blossom. When God dwells there together with the Devas, human life rises beyond being merely a worldly journey and becomes a spiritual life filled with light and grace.

Therefore, the central teaching of this mantra is that a human being who sincerely desires God, accepts His divine message, purifies the heart from tendencies, and lives accordingly attains a life filled with divine qualities; in such a pure heart, the grace and light of God become established and guide the human being towards higher spiritual fulfillment.

Conclusion

This mantra teaches that the true elevation of human life does not lie in external achievements, but in inner purity of the heart and in accepting the divine light. The Agrani God gives special knowledge and awareness to devotees who sincerely seek Him and long for Him, and communicates His message to human beings through Vedic knowledge and the divine order of nature. When a human being accepts this divine message and lives accordingly, ignorance is removed and the heart becomes illuminated.

A heart purified from tendencies and desires becomes a sacred Yajna-ground where the seeds of divine qualities are sown. There, noble qualities such as compassion, truth, self-control, devotion, and knowledge begin to grow. When God dwells in such a pure heart together with the Devas, demonic tendencies withdraw and life becomes a meaningful spiritual journey.

Therefore, the essence of this mantra is that a human being who sincerely desires God, accepts His divine message, purifies the heart from tendencies, and lives accordingly attains a radiant life filled with divine qualities; in such a heart, God Himself remains established with grace and the light of knowledge, guiding the human being towards higher spiritual fulfillment.
